Here’s a look at the common builds of the Tier S lists: Tier C – File everything else in the format here and below as unplayable, barring some unforeseen broken deck yet undiscovered Tier B – Devoted Druid, Crab-Vine, Boros Midrange, Tron, Thopter Combo, Indomitable Creativity, Dredge, Mill, Belcher, Jund, Death’s Shadow, Amulet Titan Tier A – Hammertime, Temur Rhino’s, Yawgmoth, Rakdos Midrange, Azorius Control, Hardened Scales, Burn, Grinding Station Tier S – Izzet Murktide, 4C Elementals, and Living End In addition, I’ll also go over in more detail what makes these decks so powerful in the current Modern format. Here’s what I expect the meta to look like by next weekend. We want it to be a helpful look at the format and value the community's input. With SCG Syracuse right around the corner I’ve made it my job to survey the current Modern metagame. We're still hoping to design a custom deck viewer but this should serve well in the meantime.Īll said, I still really welcome feedback to continue improving the format of this series. You'll also notice we have started using a Moxfield embed for decklists, which should render better than our previous design.

It might be boring to read about UR Murk, 4c, and Living End all the time, but these are the most consistent decks in the format and continue to put up results (and in many cases innovations in their builds). This is primarily a writeup focused on decks finishing well in tournaments or those that previously were which aren't. That said, decks like Amulet, Tron, various combos, etc. Simply, a lot of decks not at the very top of the meta just don't change enough or have surprising enough finishes in tournaments to get written about every month. If you want to jump right into the article, the link is here: Īfter hearing some of your feedback from last time, I wanted to add the disclaimer that this is not a look at every deck in the format. Covering Modern again, we look at some of the best decks in the format, those that are slipping, and those that are on the rise. We're back with another iteration of Metagame Monthly for August. The rest of the deck is survival, finding your pieces, and slowing the game down. Goblin bombardment for the same effect.ġ copy of relic robber included because it would be funny to give your opponent 5 Goblin Construct tokens that can't block and damage them every upkeep.įorbidden orchard was included to have a target for Mystic Reflection for problematic creatures, giving your opponents creatures to get more value out of Sunset Revelry, and possibly even combining your Revelry with Mystic Reflection to copy some of your opponents creatures.

If soul warden is on the battlefield, it will trigger 31 times, and you'll gain 31 life, being able to take the punch from 5 unlockable 4/6s, and winning on the crack back. Cast your Hunted Phantasm, play Reflection targeting your Phantasm in response to it's ETB trigger, giving your opponent 5 Phantasms, and giving you 25 Goblin tokens.

This deck primarily revolves around two cards. Finally finished another bad idea using a pet card, Mystic Reflection.
